- 4.5 La Soufriere Cross Country Trail (139 reviews)
-3rd time
Mountains • Volcanos
I went from the windward side whiich is easier because you start half way up the mountain, but I went into the crater by rope which took another hour. Hurricaine Tomas had totally destroyed the leeward trail. All the old trees had fallen across the trail. I have done the trail before. It wasn't very enjoyable this time, often slippery on steep slopes beside the trail. I was late getting down, got to Kingstown after dark. Everyone looked at me, a white man in Kingstown after dark. I guess that is rare. Rare but no problem. I rarely travel in Kingstown after dark. I watch the sunset from my apartment and get ready for bed. I have never had any problem in Kingstown, even after dark. The town changes somewhat, but they are all Vincentians, and very proud of it. See more..

Nice but pretty small beach just a few minutes walk from the high way. Calm waters because of the cliffs. View over young islands. There are some shops to get a drink on the beach. We sailed into Cumberland Bay and were greeted by Cas who was very helpful in mooring our Catamaran in the bay. We ate at his uncle's restaurant just ashore from the mooring and were treated to absolutely delicious home cooked locally sourced food which was beautifully presented. There was live music and guests could get up and dance between courses or after the meal. Nothing was too much trouble and when we asked for provisions such as bread, fruit and vegetables to restock our boat with we were helped by the staff who speedily delivered what we needed to the boat at very reasonable cost. A delightful experience which we repeated on our return journey sailing south. See more..
