Things to do & places to visit in La Digue Island, Seychelles

La Digue Island cover image
Arriving at La Digue feels like sailing straight into a painting, brimming with brush strokes of blue, green and tan. The beaches here are spectacular, particularly Grand Anse and Anse Source d'Argent, which is strewn with pink granite rocks. There are very few cars here, so traveling by bike or by ox cart is the way to go. Pedal over to Ile de Cocos for snorkeling or gawk at the rare Paradise Flycatcher (a beautiful black bird) at the Veuve Nature Reserve.

La Digue Island #3 destination in Seychelles 2023. The average rating score is 4.49 based on 11.7k traveler reviews, of 33 attractions. Timezone: Indian/Mahe, current date and time: Sunday, May 12, 2024, 14:15.

  1. 5.0 Crystal Water Kayaks (438 reviews)
    - Unique Service throughout our stay

    Crystal Water Kayaks image
Spontaneously, we have decided to come to Lafkada. We looked for one of the best hotels in Lafkada and we saw Crystal Water is highly rated, so we chose it. But this was just the beginning…. At check in time, a very nice lady, with a wonderful smile, welcomed us. Her name is Inessa. She escrowed us to the room and gave us the best tips: where to eat, where is the best sunset with the best cocktails, made us a reservation for beds at the best beach (of course, there were sea front), even recommended us on our next stop of our journey, and helped us with the reservation. A unique experience!!! Wish to meet such a service everywhere we go…. See more..

We went with Robert on an Anse Maron tour. A very intelligent guide. We learned a lot of interesting things about the local flora and fauna. Supervised everyone when passing difficult sections of the route. He showed picturesque places, told about local traditions. During the excursion, he treated me to fruits and sweets in a gorgeous bay. I recommend Robert and his excursions. See more..

Great trip with nice and helpful stuff. We could see real beauty of small islands of Seychelles. Even our 5 years old daughter was soo happy! I have to admit the crew was took super care about her. Only thing: As a veterinarian I highly recommend leave more space for sea turtules. Responsible tourists would enjoy admiring without touching them ! After all thank you for fantastic day! See more..

  8. 4.5 Anse Source D'Argent (3.839 reviews)
    - Unique peaceful beach : visit early mornng
    Beaches
    Anse Source D'Argent image
This was our second visit to La Digue in the last decade. La Digue (and Seychelles) is hot and humid, so to experience the beaches at their best is to start early morning at or before sunrise (around 6:00 a.m.) We first visited Union Estate (this opens at 7:00 a.m.) and purchased few fresh fruits and veggies from the shop in the Estate. We also picked up a small pack of Creole Curry masala. We then visited Anse Source D'Argent : one of the unique beaches worldwide ! The advantage of going so early morning 7:30 a.m. (after visiting Union Estate) was that we were the ONLY people on this beach. All this was possible only due to our cabbie Mr. Antony (+248 2588136) who was not only punctual, honest but very reasonable in his charges. It is quite crucial to have a good cabbie at your disposal here in La Digue, even though the island is "small", but the heat and humidity can really get you. See more..
  9. 4.5 Grand Anse (1.640 reviews)
    - Popular Beach
    Beaches
    Grand Anse image
Grand Anse Beach is one of the more popular beaches on the far side of the island. About a 40 minute bike ride from the harbor, the path takes you through some very lush forest, past some souvenir shops, and ends at the only full service restaurant on the far side of the island. The beach itself is long, crowded, and has only 1 shade tree. So if you want a decent spot, be sure to get there early. As with any other beach here, take plenty of your own water and be sure to take your trash out with you. See more..
  10. 4.5 Anse Coco Beach (968 reviews)
    - The most beautiful
    Beaches
    Anse Coco Beach image
We have visited some of the other anse in La Digue (Anse d’Argent, Anse Banane, Anse fourmis) and this one is definitely the most beautiful. You need to hike ~30 minutes to get there but it is definitely worth it. Please consider to use sneakers and that the path is not adequate for kids. Despite some of other reviews say it is difficult to find the path... it is not, just follow the sign to grand anse-petit anse and keep going There is also a kiosk where you can buy fruit and drinks. They were doing also a fish barbecue for lunch. See more..
  11. 4.5 Petite Anse (753 reviews)
    - Quiet, beautiful beach
    Beaches
    Petite Anse image
Petite Anse Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on La Digue. About a 15-20 minute hike from Grand Anse Beach, the hike is well worth it as the views, beach itself and crowds. Petite Anse is a long, somewhat isolated beach. There are no trees so shade is a problem. But the positives far outweigh any other issues. There are few people here, even during heavy tourist times, so it feels like you are alone on this beach. As with any other beach here, take plenty of your own water and be sure to take your trash out with you. See more..
  12. 4.5 Anse Severe (577 reviews)
    - Probably our favorite beach on La Digue
    Beaches
    Anse Severe image
Anse Severe covers a long stretch of coast on the western side of La Digue. The beach is sandy and large, so while it gets crowded around the juice bars, you can always find a more secluded spot a short walk away. Ample shade from the larger trees lining the beach as well. Really great snorkeling towards the large rocks to the left, entering the water. You will want water shoes to get past the first 20 meters or so, as there is a bed of dead coral followed by a long stretch of sea grass. If you go during high tide (recommended) you can just swim over these areas and all the way out to the deeper waters. Lots of fish and even some live coral, great clarity and super calm waters. This was the best snorkeling we did in La Digue by a long shot. Per locals you can spot turtles swimming here as well. The crowds are actually pretty sparse in the afternoon but it definitely picks up around sunset. Grab a smoothie from Bikini Bottom and lounge the day away — we certainly did! See more..
  13. 4.5 Sunny Trail Guide (551 reviews)
    - Best experience in Seychelles
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bike Tours • Walking Tours • Climbing Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Sunny Trail Guide image
This was so far our best experience in Seychelles! Discovering Anse Marron (one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world) through an adventurous hike was just priceless. We were a small group of 5 persons and all of us were happy how Sunny trail organized the tour. We felt safe ( yes, you definitely need a guide who know the path and help you to climb the highest rocks, don't try to do this alone) and excited, was a real adventure no one should miss! The lunch they served us was delicious and we felt we had enough time to enjoy every single moment. I wouldn't reccomend it if you don't have a minimum of phisycal shape or if you suffer the heights (nothing to be scared about but remember this is adventure and sometimes is going out of confort zone). Thank you Robert for your assistance and Aron for having guided us in the safest way! SUPER reccomended| See more..

  15. 4.5 Anse Patates Beach (372 reviews)
    - Nice but small. Great bike ride.
    Beaches
    Anse Patates Beach image
Small beach on the north shore of La Digue. Very nice bike ride up here from the Jetty area. You’ll want to enter the water from the ride side (closer to the boulders) to avoid the submerged rocks. Snorkeling was OK when we went, not as good as Anse Severe, but in fairness we did not go out very far from shore. Water was beautiful in April with zero seaweed. Note that due to the size of the beach and the numerous lodging options nearby, this place gets packed. Arrive early if you want a spot in the shade. See more..
  16. 4.5 Félicité Island (103 reviews)
    - Lovely, but a little spoilt now
    Spent 2-3 hours Islands
    Félicité Island image
In the past this was my favourite place to anchor overnight when on a yachting holiday. It's still very nice, but there's now an upmarket resort on the island which means it is no longer (largely) uninhabited. The resort isn't loud or very bright, but it's not like previously when all was quiet and dark. We were told that the resort doesn't take kindly to yachts anchoring off the beach, but we stayed 3 nights in total and no one bothered us. A huge Catamaran turned up one night blaring out tuneless "music" for about an hour which also detracted from the experience this time. The snorkelling off the beach is excellent, better than Coco Island and watching the fruit bats flying overhead at dusk is enchanting. A lovely place, just a bit tarnished now. See more..

Like all beaches on La digue/Seychelles this one is also very nice. No crowds nice calm and clean. If you dont like the sun too much you just lay under the bushes. Cooldown is good too in the water because its not freezing cold. The best!! See more..

We spent 3 days diving with Eco-Center.. Good equipment, comfortable and big boat, professional management and Darios and Kurtis are very good and nice guides. Unfortunately we couldn't dive also with Julian but, after having spoken with him about his passion, we are sure he his great as well!! next time :-) See more..
