  1. 5.0 Royal Balloon Rwanda (70 reviews)
    - Incredible experience and very professional crew

Incredible experience. In my opinion, the best activity that you can do in Rwanda. You start at sunrise with a small breakfast while you see the preparation of the hot air balloon. At around 06:00 am it’s departure. We were able to see an elephant herd, zebras, Topis, 3 packs of Impalas and Waterbucks, all of this with an incredible view. The pilot and the crew are really really professional and very friendly. The ride is around 45 minutes and after that we had a big and nice breakfast in Akagera Game Lodge with champagne. I would 100% recommend this activity. Thank you again pilot Nihat alias Simba, John and the whole team for making it a memorable experience. See more..

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Akagera National Park in late July 2021. The trip was well organized, the guides professional and enthusiastic, everything was done on time and tailored to our needs (e.g coming back to the hotel for lunch etc). We went with two families (a total of 6) and children / teenagers. We started with a cultural tour learning how to make banana wine in a village just 10 mins outside the Park. Inside the park, we opted for the luxury version and stayed with the Akagera Game Lodge Hotel, which also had a great swimming pool, which came handy after long daily trips. Our top highlights were the boat tour on the lake, we highly recommend, and we spotted lions at night. We will thoroughly remember it and we can recommend Rwanda Holidays & Thousand Hills Tours to anyone who wants to visit the park. See more..

  8. 4.5 Akagera National Park (483 reviews)
    - Fantastic safari
Thursday: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Akagera National Park image
Just two hours from Kigali, Akagera National Park is situated in the eastern province of Rwanda, on the border with Tanzania. The park covers an area of approximately 1,100 km² encompassing a unique and picturesque park, with rich diversity in wildlife and environments. The mountainous western boundary reaches altitudes of nearly 2000 metres in the Mutumba hills region, these highlands provide spectacular views over the expanse of lakes and papyrus swamps to the east, the largest protected wetland in Central Africa. On a national scale the Akagera region is an important area for large mammals in the country as the only protected savannah environment in Rwanda, complimenting the humid forests of Nyungwe National Park in the south of Rwanda and the afro-alpine habitats of Volcanoes National Park in the north. Akagera has an inspiring conservation story, under the public private partnership between conservation non-profit African Parks and the Rwanda Development Board. See more..

  10. 4.0 Rusumo Falls (10 reviews)
    - The construction has finished
    Waterfalls
    Rusumo Falls image
I read another review that mentioned that the construction on the bridge made the trip less enjoyable. I am happy to report that the construction is complete. There is now a new bridge for traffic, and the old bridge still stands. Simply hand over your passport to the Rwandan border guard and walk out onto the bridge. From the new bridge there is a lovely view of the valley, however you cannot see the falls as it is blocked by the old bridge. If you walk back to the Rwandan side there is a hole in the fence. just walk through there (the border guards don't mind, and seemed to encourage it), and make a left onto the old bridge, from here you have a unobstructed view of the falls, and its muddy water. The old bridge is closed to traffic so you can walk around on it with no fear of being runover by heavy truck traffic. See more..
