  1. 4.5 Poiana Brasov (435 reviews)
    - Great skiing destination

    Poiana Brasov image
Great place to go skiing, the slopes are really nice and restaurants are delicious, with very good prices. Skipass, ski trainers, restaurants, services all have great prices. In contrast, hotels are very expensive - avoid Centrul de Echitatie in Poiana Brasov, we stayed there (for 130 EUR/night) and it was a total disaster. In rest all was good. See more..
  2. 4.5 Biertan Fortified Church (339 reviews)
    - Largest and oldest saxon fortified church
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals
    Biertan Fortified Church image
Greatest Saxon fortified church from XV century, in Transylvania. The altar piece is one of the oldest painted tryptich and there is also an amazing lock piece on the sacristy door as well as many sculpted figures of the local personalities of the time. There was a local exhibit of art tiles from a local factory as well. The surrounding village and nature are impressive. See more..
  3. 4.5 Viscri Fortified Church (328 reviews)
    - The Pretty Village of Viscri
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
    Viscri Fortified Church image
A nominal fee to visit the fortified church at the top of the village, it has a few exhibitions, of farming implements etc. I didn't spend long exploring the church, of far more interest was the main village street, with it's quaint lost in time houses, and the people, many traditionally dressed & using horse pulled carts. Life lived the old fashioned way. Viscri is where Prince Charles has a house & it is he who has put the village on the map (& caused the spike in house prices by all accounts!). See more..
  4. 4.5 Fagaras Fortress (263 reviews)
    - A nice fortress
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Castles
    Fagaras Fortress image
I enjoyed my visit at Fagaras Fortress. I wanted to visit it a few years back but it was on renovation. The renovations are still hapening today but you can visit the inside of the fortress which has a very interesting museum and a very beautiful Tower Hall. The museum was interesting, well preserved and maintained, everything looked nice: it had also English translations for foreign visitors. The price of the ticket was 20 RON per person I definitely found it interesting and worth a visit if you are nearby Fagaras See more..
  5. 4.5 Peasant Fortified Church at Prejmer (248 reviews)
    - Well worth the journey

Peasant Fortified Church at Prejmer image
Priced at 15 RON ( less than £3) this gem of a fortified church is different from the ones I have visited previously. It’s unusual in the fact that it has so many rooms that were set aside for the locals. It is well maintained and gives you a real insight in to life in former times when fortifications of this type were needed. See more..
  6. 4.5 Saint Anna Lake (168 reviews)
    - Pace and beautifull
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Bodies of Water
    Saint Anna Lake image
A very clean and quiet place. It costs 24 lei parking space (2 hours), you have time to visit the lake, on the way to the lake is a beautiful place where you can see a panoramic view. Also in this money right next to the cottage where the ticket is purchased, even a 3-minute walk away you can go on a 45-minute hike where you will see a former lake covered by the eruption of the volcano. Here are landscapes and a super interesting history. Plus the guide made the hike much more interesting. See more..

Pivnita lui Teo - Teo's Cellar image
At Teo’s 500-year-old cellar you can taste, enjoy and buy different sorts of local alcoholic beverages such as brandies and liquoirs. Among those several have received different prizes for their outstanding quality at national and international fairs. Our family has been producing these beverages for the past 200 years following traditional recipes perfected by local Saxons for centuries from the local area, also known as Tarnava Valley. Our brandy is kept in oak barrels for at least 3 years. See more..

    Rasnov Citadel image
Discover the rich history and culture of Râșnov by visiting the iconic Râșnov Fortress, located at Str. Cetății nr. 17. The fortress, one of the most important historical monuments in Romania, is currently undergoing a major restoration process. Today, visitors can explore the Fortress Garden, where they can take in stunning views of the surrounding landscape and learn more about the fortress's history through informative displays and exhibits. Built by Saxons and Teutonic knights during the 1211-1225 Crusade, the Râșnov Fortress has stood the test of time, resisting invasions by the Tatars in 1335 and the Ottomans in 1421. It served as a refuge for the Râșnov community until the 18th century and is a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage. See more..
  9. 4.0 Tampa Cable Car (389 reviews)
    - Cable car purely to get you up to the top, not for the experience.
    Trams
    Tampa Cable Car image
There is one cable car up and one down. I guess at busy times you will have to wait a long time to get on one. September is a quiet time and we were lucky and didn't have to wait at all either way. Once you are up, there is still a bit to walk. You won't see much if you don't walk anywhere after you get off the cable car. I would suggest go straight to the summit as most people will go towards the Brasov sign first. There is a nice view up there but you can get just as goof of a view of you walk up the black/ white tower instead for free and much less walking. See more..
  10. 4.0 Yekaterina's Gate (303 reviews)
    - Reminder of the cities fortifications.

    Yekaterina's Gate image
For centuries Katherine's gate was the only connection towards the Schei neighborhood of Brasov until 1827 when the Schei gate was built in its vicinity to handle the traffic in and out of the city - because Katherine's gate became too small for the task. Nowadays is a historical monument, the gates exterior tower is what can be seen and remained from the complex system that the gate once was - the murder holes and firing can be still seen today. And it is one of the most well preserved pieces of fortifications in Brasov. So when you stroll through Brasov and you are in the area of the Schei gate , you can stop by Katherine's gate to take a few pictures - also in the vicinity is a small park and there you can find some very nice wooden sculptures.
