   Gagauzia is not very big and attractions are few. The Cathedral of Saint John is probably the main attraction and is centrally located. It is surrounded by a small well-kept park with several restaurants. There is also a small alley with statues of noted people in Gagauzia history. The exterior is bright yellow and very striking, while the interior is pretty but not outstanding (if compared to other cathedrals in the region). Still, worth a visit. See more..

   Comrat is a small city so it won't be difficult to locate this museum, and there aren't many tourist attractions. The entrance fee is very low and when we arrived with our guide, the female museum curator insisted she narrate in Russian. Our guide translated what she said, but this just made the tour of the museum twice as long. You can see the museum in about an hour if you walk around by yourself. The museum covers all things Comrat from old to new and they even have discovered woolly mammoths in the area. See more..

    We visited this multi-room museum, which was assembled as a labor of love by the artist D. Karachioban. My guide and I were the only two visitors and had the place, and the museum guide, to ourselves. There were perhaps eight rooms, all of which were full of memorabilia, artifacts, and displays. The museum guide took us through each room and explained in-depth the history behind the displays. She explained the history of the Gagauzian people, their language, their culture, and their traditions, bringing it all the way to current. We walked through each room and she pointed out many things for us. The aspects of her explanation that my guide translated were very interesting and I was grateful for her extensive explanations. Regrettably I know I missed a lot. The museum guide spoke Russian and Gagauz - neither of which I speak. My guide translated from the museum guide's Russian, but the depth and length of her explanations necessitated that my guide condense. There were no descriptions in any other language.
