Wow, what a day! Eric provided our family with the perfect day out. Amazing snorkeling around the reef, Eric was fantastic, guiding our 9yr old daughter by the hand, showing her the natural habitats of electric rays, moray eels, box fish and even Nemo! A beautiful lunch in the most perfect setting, a real seafood lovers treat, BBQ'd marlin and lobster with hand dived fresh sea urchins on request if desired!! And then on the return journey, a stop off to encounter majestic sea turtles and dolphins. I told Eric I was going to test out his 250+ 5 star reviews......he didn't disappoint. See more..

We have booked our day trip with Get your Guide and we had a wonderful day! The communication by Whatsapp was very good with Genaro, our guide from Angel Cruises, who welcomed us on the spot we went on the boat, he was always smiling and polite. Our taxi driver Mr. Henry was just amazing, he was very knowledgeable so we had an agreable time discussion on the way from our hotel to Mahébourg and back. And the cruise to Île aux Cerfs was just perfect! We had a wonderful surprise when we found out that, even though they had many cancelling for that day, they maintained the cruise for the 3 of us! Special thanks to our boat captain Joel who was very welcoming and made us laugh a lot...perhaps because the Piña Colada he served us constantly was very tasty as well! It was surely the highlight of our trip in Mauritius so we highly recommend it to the ones who still hesitate what trip they should book for! See more..

Great snorkelling experience with Brummell and crew. We did the extended tour so we were able to experience several different underwater ecosystems. We saw many kinds of coral, sea grass and fish of all sizes and colours. We booked the trip to Il aux cerf through the tour company at our hotel. The catamaran was amazing and the staff incredibly helpful and attentive. It was a rainy day but that didn’t bother us. The cat has sides that can zip down and clip in to shelter you from the wind and the rain. The food was amazing and there was always snacks and drinks available. We even saw dolphins while sailing. Snorkeling and the waterfall waterfall was fun. We even saw monkeys. The stop on the island was fun and a quick walk to the other side of the island we found a beautiful beach that was good for swimming. We got picked up again with the cat and headed back. The sail back was relaxing and fun and I would highly recommend this day trip. Sitting on the trampolines in front of the cat was so much fun and you can get a nice tan going. Everything about this beach is a pleasure to the eyes: the entry through a narrow passage, the turquoise water, thin white sand, and last but not least the Eastern mountains that you can see far away from the beach. The place is usually not too crowded so if you’re seeking tranquility it would be one of the best spots of the region. We visited Ile aux Phare during a boat trip. We were allowed to visit the island. It is a bit hard for the boat to go near the island then we had to walk in the sea to get on the island but it was worth it. Stunning nature around the island plus and old historic lighthouse is there! There were some endemic lizards that live only on the island therefore be careful when you walk around! See more..

Ravish is an excellent tour guide and taxi operator in Mauritius. I have used his services twice (pre+post covid closures). Reliable and knowledgeable, Ravish provided us with exactly what we asked for. Good communication via WhatsApp for airport taxi shuttle and also with suggestions on day tours. Listened to my needs (young baby 1st trip, toddler second trip) and suitable suggestions. Operates a family taxi/tour business so by using his services clients can directly contribute to helping the local communities and not some large national enterprise. I highly recommend him. What an pleasant experience! Who ever said the coral is dead obviously does not know what live coral looks like. At least 80%is still alive and there are only small patches that are damaged. Even though it was overcast almost the entire week we were there, we were still able to see quite a lot. There are all types of fish, shells(big ones), LIVE coral and the guys that went the previous day even saw turtles. The oil spill did not seem to affect it to much(not sure why it looked like before) but the spill happened on the other side of the island. Agreed there are better places to snorkel in the world but this is defenately on my top 10! Well worth a visit. Regarding the ankers damaging the coral, it seems the boats have made a designated area to lover their ancers to avoid any more damage to the coral. Mahebourg Waterfront in Mahebourg is one of the best historic place in the south eastern part of Mauritius. Walking along the waterfront is one of the best activities to do while enjouying the sights of local people and local fishermen on their daily chores. The main bus station is by the waterfront and that makes if more convenient if travelling by bus to other cities. Local shops are nearby and local markets are just a stone throw away. I spent 5 days in Mahebourg and stayed by the waterfront and it's one of the best itinerary I had in my 23 days in Mauritius. See more..

We spent a week at Le Preskil and went diving with the on-site dive centre - Coral Diving I found them to be friendly and efficient. We had brought most of our own gear - so we didn't have to rent. The boat was well equipped and the crew helpful and enthusiastic. The only drawback really was the dive sites themselves. Mauritian reefs are bereft of sea life - so although the reefs were fine - there were few fish. We went to a few sites inside the reef and then a few outside. I saw more fish snorkelling off the beach. We are a little spoilt at home with Sodwana Bay and Aliwal Shoal which have an abundance of tropical fish but it was extremely disappointing to only spot the odd fish here and there. Mauritius is a great place for a holiday - but don't have high expectations of the diving. See more..
