I visited the place for a day of adventure with friends, a hike + kayaking. The hike was amazing with wonderful views. The kayaking ended in an unfortunate event where my phone fell into the river. The owner Gilbert went out of his way to assist in recovering the phone which was unexpected but extremely appreciated. I was impressed with the genuine care for their customers well-being. La Pointe du Diable se situe dans le Sud de l'Ile Maurice au lieu dit " Grand Sable " sur la route B28 au Nord de Mahebourg . Sous Napoléon Ier en aout 1810 , les anglais tentent de débarquer sur l'Ile dans la baie de Vieux Grand Port , avec une flotte , qui s'oppose aux Français . La flotte française est victorieuse et les anglais sont repoussés . C'est d'ailleurs la seule bataille navale victorieuse pour Napoléon , qui la fera inscrire sur l'Arc de Triomphe de Paris . Les restes du fortin français avec ses remparts et ses canons subsistent encore . Du parking, on peut voir les baies de Grand Sable et de Vieux Grand Port , qui se déploient sous nos yeux , avec la barrière de corail .
