I drop my recommendation for the whale shark swimming right here. We did go out with the Kempinski organized Blue Lagoon Team. All the way into Tadjoura bay, around Arta Beach. We saw huge whale sharks, they are the most relaxed animals, maybe their genes tell them they have been around the planet for more than 60 mio years, nothing can do you harm. We had a few around, jumped over board and swum around. They are eating plancton and little fish and what else is in the sea. They open their huge mouth and just float along and due to the size of their mouth and water being undisturbed the prey enters the mouth and thinks its still swimming along. a clever mechanism. We felt honoured by the chance to swim along them, the animals are majestic-like kings of the sea, they care little about swimmers and have the capability to dive 1200 m or more, thats where they go when they feel to close to humans.
