    L'art Du Bénin D'hier Et D'aujourd'hui image
This is a must-see exhibition of 26 repatriated artifacts stolen by the French in 1892 from the Dahomey Kingdom and 34 contemporary art works by local artists. We were lucky enough to have an English speaking guide, Sandrine, who gave us an introduction to the royal objects and the cultural and historical significance of each. Truly it was the highlight of our visit to Benin. See more..

  4. 4.5 Fondation Zinsou (86 reviews)
    - Good art books and five dollar per night hotel
Sunday: Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Fondation Zinsou image
I got here cause I was looking for a budget hotel near the embassies and the sea. Really near to the airport too and there's only five planes a day that fly over. I managed to pay 3000 per night cause I stayed five nights. Spent good times talking to Jules, the landlord and the girls of the tailor school right next door. The foundation does a good job, being well visited by eager kids that wash their hands before entering and picking up any books. They had a great Keith Haring exhibition last November and so I spent a good afternoon reading into the African inspiration that Keith drew. No airco but fans. Same as in the budget 'hotel'. - Lively place to be!
    Sunday: 6:00 PM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bars & Clubs
    Code Bar image
See more..

    Artisanal Center image
This artisanal market has very high quality goods. The prices are higher than the other market I visited in Cotonou but the quality of the products justifies the higher price tag. The environment is really nice and it is an overall very pleasant experience. I highly recommend visiting the artisanal center during your stay in Cotonou. See more..
  11. 4.0 Marche Dantokpa (60 reviews)
    - One of the biggest African markets
    Flea & Street Markets
    Marche Dantokpa image
It could be a frustrating and chaotic experience for non-Africans, but I believe that every traveler should visit this market. You can find many thinks from food, fabrics, handicrafts, etc (it doesn't mean that you will find at a better price. There are smaller markets for that). But still, it is a market that you will have a very good feeling about the daily life of the locals. I also recommend crossing the river with the " pirogue", the wooden boat that the locals use for their transportation See more..

  15. 4.0 Centre Communautaire Eya (1 review)
    - Centre Communautaire EYA , Cadre Plaisant , Bonne Idée , mais Service de boissons
Spent < 1 hour Civic Centres
    Centre Communautaire Eya image

  20. 3.5 Fidjrosse Beach (67 reviews)
    - The best place to chill with friends
    Beaches
    Fidjrosse Beach image
I absolutely love this beach. By the water, it is perfect to walk, to chill on the sand and, if you're careful, to bathe. By the street, all those cheap bars are the real deal. I'm not giving it 5 stars because I often see people pee and not just that, and once my friend stepped into human diarrhea. See more..

This seems to be at the heart of the city. Coming from the North of Benin and our vehicle stopped here. The sight is amazing and you would want to capture it. Not sure if it is a touristy site but if you are in town, you could do a drive by for some pictures. See more..

My colleagues and I wandered down to Obama Beach a few times - the bar / resto there is very cheap and food is good (so is the beer!!!) However the sea is so dangerous that you really shouldn't go anywhere near it An evening in bar there would be great -thnk I'll do that next time! See more..
  23. 3.5 Stade de l'Amitie (16 reviews)

    Spent < 1 hour Arenas & Stadiums
    Stade de l'Amitie image
If you go to Cotonou for Sport or football specifically, I’m sure you’ll go to the ‘Stade de l’Amitié’. It is a smart place to get fun and meet people. With many locals, you can look for a restaurant inside. There are some gym clubs. Very good to relax and have fun. So just be careful to the pickpockets. See more..
  24. 3.5 Grande Mosquee de Zongo (2 reviews)
Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites

Spent < 1 hour Antique Shops • Flea & Street Markets
    Marche Missebo image
This market is near AbuMega, mostly you will find here shops for clothes and food stuff specially rice, oil and sugar. Also many shops are there for beverages like alcohols, vins, beers and energy drinks. No any big souvenir shops, you might think to take a look at. Over all its crowdy and noisy. Parking is difficult so go by bike if possible. If you are in Benin for business opportunities this is the place you can come and explore. See more..
