- 4.5 Lucayan National Park (285 reviews)
-Best beach, and caves too!
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Our family of five, including three teenagers, really enjoyed going to this park. It is definitely out-of-the-way, and for most of our experience we were the only people around. We first took the walk through the caves, and really enjoyed being able to see those areas. Afterwords, we walked down to Gold Rock Beach. The whole family agreed that that was our favorite beach on the island. Completely deserted, and beautiful. There was a person there that was renting umbrellas which was perfect for a little bit of shade. We stayed a couple of hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. Would definitely recommend to couples or families. See more..

Breweries
After reading others' reviews, I planned to visit the brewery as a self-directed shore excursion. I mentioned that I was planning on doing this tour in Freeport, and 3 of my dinner tablemates aboard the Sensation thought they would like to tag along. The 4 of us got a cab (Duane) to the brewery for $3 pp, and he agreed to meet us after our tour to take us back to the port. We had the pleasure of starting our tour with Ash, but half way through switched to Brice (is nice). We had arrived before the ship's tour so arrived at the tasting room before the rush. The tour was a bit warm as it was not air conditioned, but the tasting room was. We sampled the various brews that were offered with varying opinions as to which was best. After the Carnival group left, we hung with Ash for another hour with more tasting options. This may have been the best shore excursion ever. Great times!! See more..

- 4.0 Barbary Beach (109 reviews)
-A Beach to Remember
Beaches
All of the beaches on the Grand Bahama Island are just beautiful. The sugar white sands and turquoise waters are outstanding. I think that is what I personally love about this island and why we chose to visit it a second time. Barbary Beach is one of our favorites. It is usually a quiet beach with limited visitors, which is why locals will tell you not to visit the beach. It is NOT a secure beach, as we were warned and It is farther out on the eastern end of the Lucayan area and not populated. With that warning, be sure to visit in numbers and take protective precautions when visiting, if you chose to go. The lack of crowds, long expansive beach to walk and explore, pristine waters to swim with sandy bottoms extending out to the farther depths of the ocean were a days enjoyment for us. This beach is one of the highlight memories for us while visiting Grand Bahama. See more..
