Worth A Visit
I am currently living locally and visited the Great Wall on a visit to Linhai. It is a well preserved and you can walk for 5-6km and take in the views. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chinese cities for a short while. It was so refreshing not to hear the honking of car horns, people spitting or any other noise ! I could even hear the birds singing !!

well worth the effort to climb all those steps
Don't be put off by the 198 stairs at the entrance - its a wonderful peaceful walk along the wall to the river and old town, as good as the Great Wall but not crowded. If you are a foreigner you will likely be the only one there that day and may get lots of photo requests.

Truely a hidden gem
Not withstanding the first steps, of which there are a great many, that you have to climb to get to the main part of the wall the whole experience was sublime. It was a warm to hot afternoon but with the trees shading everything it was superb. A true delight with many typical pieces of history in most of the keep towers such as drums etc. The river area without being ostentatious was just lovely and so relaxing. Then you can drop down into the old town which was a delight Would highly recommend
