Treasured

Wonderful in brick craft it is a treasured legacy from the 1400s. Moving beyond the outstanding façade in red and stepping inside is to see a fabulous organ dating from the early 1660s. This is just one of the impressive features. An exquisite pulpit adorned with superb holy images is on the way to the altar area. Pews in light grey have a scallop shell motif on each. A gorgeous ceiling crowns the grand array of columns and arches. The fine cloister shows its origins as part of the Carmelite Monastery.

    Beautiful
This is a lovely church and our first one we visited in Denmark. The church was originally an abbey church and a part of the magnificent Our Lady Monastery in Elsinore during 1430-1500. Until 1851 there were German services held here. The monastery continued to function as a hospital until 1916. The organ, one of the main attractions, dates back to 1662-63 and there are concerts held here which attract big audiences.

    Worth visit
This beautiful church is the southern wing of Our Lady Monastery in Elsinore, which was founded by Erik of Pomerania and built by the Carmelites around 1430. It said to be the best preserved facility of its kind in Denmark and the finest example of a complete monastic complex surviving in Denmark, and one of the best in all of Scandinavia too. Give your time to walk around the area, look inside, sit down and relax and enjoy the room.
