Awesomely spectacular views

We did not see any snow on our September visit, but we went up to the lowers level of clouds, and as we ascended, it became colder.

    The breathtaking beauty of nature
Yulong Snow Mountain is a place to see clouds, the snowy peaks, and sea, but not snow at the lower levels in September. Refreshing, high oxygen content air.

    Exorbitant charges
When I arrived at Kunming on 30 Mar this year, the airport shuttle bus tour guide discouraged us from going to Yulong Snow Mountain as she said that at this time of the season, there would not be any snow up at Yulong Mountain. Do not trust this airport shuttle bus guide. My journey up Yulong Mountain confirmed that there was in fact snow and the snow was thicker than I thought. I think that could be her shrewd marketing strategy so that I would be spending more time at Kunming and happily joined the tour packages recommended by her. She was wrong and my advice is to be alert and cautious not to be swayed by any scam. The Glacier Park up at Yulong Snow Mountain is spectacularly gorgeous, especially to those like me who have no encounter with snow and winter. The cable car at Glacier Park is the second highest elevation tram in China and Yulong Snow Mountain is the biggest snow mountain in the southernmost of China. However, the transportation, admission and miscellaneous charges to the attraction are exorbitant. A breakdown is as follows:- (a) Bus from Old Town to Yulong entrance and return - 40 RMB (b) Cable Car charges - 180 RMB (c) Admission charges - 105 RMB (d) Old Town Preservation fees - 80 RMB (e) Bus transfer - 20 RMB (f) Impression show (optional) - 190 RMB (g) Rental of winter jacket (Optional) - 50 RMB (h) Oxygen canister (Optional) - 68 RMB The queue to get the bus transfer to the cable car station was one of the longest queue I ever come across. It took almost 3 hrs waiting for the bus and the cable car only took about 12 mins to reach the mountain. While in the queue, I came across food vendors who pestered me to buy their chocolate bars and ginger tea claiming that these foods help to curb high altitude sickness. I wondered their effectiveness.
