Quaint + quiet village
This is a lovely quaint village on the edge of Yulong mountain, 30 mins drive from Lijiang, with tasteful craft shops and coffee shops. We visited on a weekday in January and it was incredibly quiet, didn't feel touristy at all (though I've heard the summer is their peak season). 2 hours is enough. Name in Chinese: 白沙古镇

great coffee place in baisha
Baisha is still real ! Not sophisticated as LiJiang Dayan. Easy access from Shuhe and great mountain view from some roof top terraces. There is a small cafe on the main street that serves great "Yunnan Arabica Coffee" ( the name is on the board) and dumplings, it has a roof terrace and the owners speak good english.

Worth a visit
We took the number 6 bus from the new area of town outside of the north most square for a trip to this lovely town . The trip there was very interesting as we were able to get away from the tourists and enjoy the local flavor of the area. Baisha sits on the large plain about 20 minutes outside of Lijiang. The trip took us through the newer part of Lijiang too, which was interesting. It is a quiet and interesting place.
