Taliesin, the home, studio and estate of Frank Lloyd Wright, is located in the Driftless Region of southwestern Wisconsin near Spring Green. It is the name of Wright’s house as well as the 800-acre estate that includes buildings from all decades of Wright’s career. Its many wings and terraces reach out around the ridge of the hill, embracing the site and standing as “brow.” Taliesin was the residence of Wright and the valley was his inspiration and life-long laboratory for architectural designs and innovation. Taliesin represents the most complete embodiment of Wright’s philosophy of Organic Architecture. The Taliesin residence is the heart of a series of buildings that Wright designed for himself and his family members on the estate. Other buildings include: Romeo & Juliet Windmill (1896), Hillside Home School (1903), Tan-y-Deri (1908), Hillside Drafting Studio (1932), Midway Barn (1949), Hillside Theater (1952), and the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center (1967).

We had guests in town and decided to take them to the 2 Hour tour this past Saturday. They had visited 40ish years ago and we had toured the house 1 couple times in last 10 years. It exceeded our/their expectations and we really enjoyed the first hour that we had not previously viewed. However, I am writing this as I/we believe that much of our enjoyment came from the energy, knowledge and presentation skills of our guide Spencer. He dealt with 22 of us and a light rain in a manner that is worthy of his being recognized. I would guess he has been mentioned by others in the past. So Yea for Taliesin and Yea for Spencer.............

    Beautiful, thoughtful, and well-maintained place!
Had a great time touring Taliesin and having a glimpse into FLW's life, home, and studio. All are gorgeous and great examples of his signature designs and style. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and it's evident the staff there care very much about preserving his work and legacy. All the visitor revenue contributes to that, so it's definitely worthwhile & I highly recommend!
