Peace.

This is an authentic Jamaican beach experience, complete with the bamboo benches, calm water lapping the white sand shore, rustic loungers, outdoor shower to rinse off and an ice cold Heineken at sunset is sublime. Nominal cover charge to enter and the place is kept spotless. We LOVE Half Moon Beach.

Half Moon Bay is the best for a truly relaxing large family vacation.
I took 15 family members to Half Moon Bay in Jamaica and stayed in Villa 90. Peter, Marcia and Lucille were excellent hosts and took care of every need with a warm and friendly smile. The resort is large with a wide variety of activities from horseback riding in the ocean to snorkeling, golf, tennis or just relaxing under a tree while being waited on by a friendly Jamaican. There is a children's camp with lots of activities for kids of all ages run by very caring child care employees allowing parents and grand parents to enjoy themselves. We spent most of our meals at the Villa but had many choices for restaurants and drinks. In summary, the service is unparalleled and you can tell that every employee cares about you and their resort.

    Idyllic swimming spot
If you are staying in Negril, the options with a rental car are limited. You can drive South to Black River, for an alligator-searching cruise - also to buy spicy shrimp at Middle Quarters. Alternatively, you can head North, towards Montego Bay. If you choose the latter route, be sure to call in to Half Moon Bay, described by the Rough Guide to Jamaica as 'perhaps the prettiest cove in the whole of Jamaica'. There is a $2 US entrance charge, but this gets you changing facilities and comfortable loungers and the chance to swim in a very pretty cove indeed, with crystal clear water. Three wooden cottages are offered as accommodation, but it would be an eccentric place to stay for any length of time. The German couple owning the site are pleasant and offer drinks plus a beach-restaurant service. On Sundays you can get all-you-can-eat lobster for around $30 US. We just had a coffee, spent a couple of hours swimming and walking around the beautiful grounds (admiring the bird life) and then headed further North. You may need to wear beach shoes when you go swimming here.
