Great atypical guesthouse.
We stayed for 3 nights in Flateyri in the apartment above the bookstore. We were a family of 5 so we had all the apartment for ourselves. The decoration is very original and deeply rooted in the history of this bookstore, the family who owns it and Flateyri. The host was very welcoming and we appreciated as a nice touch a fridge and cupboards filled for the breakfasts. The views on the port and the mountains above the village are astounding.

A hidden gem
This is really interesting place but it’s a bit hidden. Not only is this a book store, but it’s an old book store that has preserved its authenticity. As a bonus you can view an apartment of the owner of the book store, it takes you 60-70 years in the past. Very interesting and a must see.

Nice place for an overnight stay, cosy family house, nice host. There are hardly any English language books, if that is what you are after. There is a small cafe and not much else in Flateyri if you want food (there is a kitchenette with materials for a light breakfast.
