Interesting and well worth a visit

We spent about 2 hrs at this museum, the historian (sorry I don't know his name) was very approachable, knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Iceland's history and how it impacts on today. The museum is on 3 floors and contains lots of artifacts. It was the highlight of our visit to Iceland. The other member of staff was very knowledgeable about football which was an added bonus. I thoroughly recommend visiting this museum. thankyou to the museums staff for your hospitality

    Nice little place
Nice museum up by the docks. Bit of history on the town, importance of fishing etc. Even going past the stuffed polar bear and full diving costume you’re thinking “This is too normal for an Icelandic museum” but then you go up the steep ladder to the top floor to the accordion museum! Where apparently I made too many musical puns…acordian to my wife anyway. There’s no facilities in the museum, but it’s next door to the Tourist info centre which has toilets, and also a café.

    Heave ho....
This is one of those small museums that means well, but is kind of boring. The main museum is on 3 floors, starting in the 19th century, and goes up to the middle 20th century, with various artefacts, and some interesting films. There isn't much else. You would have to spend a lot more money to hire people for "the whaling experience" or stuff like that, if you wanted to interest kids. There is a restaurant tucked away that may be worth trying out. The best thing for us was the tourist information office, which was really helpful, especially in giving instructions for driving the south tunnel!!!!!!!!! GO ASK!!!
