Quay Street, Western Ireland, Ireland

Colourful, lively, somewhat Bohemian, glorious Galway
Even in a driving rainstorm, it is impossible not to fall in love with Galway (aka city of tribes), the 'capital' of Western Ireland located on the Atlantic. Quay Street, the pedestrianized street in the heart of the city, is filled with pubs playing traditional music, colourful shop facades, and enough restaurants and shops to satisfy every shopper. Galway is known for it seaside location, traditional music, cobbled streets, festivals and its lively culture, art and food. This was one of my favourite cities in Ireland ... possibly my very favourite ... and a return is high on my to-do list, hopefully during one of the city's many festivals.

Great street musicians
This spot can get crowded so if Covid afraid wear your mask. We stumbled upon at least three separate groups of local musicians. Lots of food choices as well and leads down to the water

Nice restaurants but very busy
Quay Street is full of great restaurants, with a nice range of fast food, budget options, and fancy restaurants. McDonagh's fish and chips are a classic, and Sliders is the newest great option to open there. However, the street is one of the most popular in Galway and is full of tourists every summer. I avoid it during the summer because it's just too busy to walk through. It's also a popular spot for pickpockets for the same reason.
