Wonderful experience for kids , beautiful island & brilliant family business
A holiday in County Mayo would not be complete without a visit to Inishkea with the Lavelles who run Belmullet Boat Charters. I travelled with my family of 2 adults and 2 children (ages 5 & 7). It was the first time our kids had been at sea and the weather was not the best on the mainland so we were worried about bringing our young children. There no need to worry at all as the boat was a super steady catmaran and we were able to watch the huge waves go by with no impact on the boat. When we reached the island, Kea gave us a guided tour - which brought us back in time to imagine what life might have been like for the inhabitants of the island. The kids loved the folklore stories of the Inishkea Island King & Pirates once on the island! After exploring the island we had a picnic on the white sandy beach and went for a paddle in cold but beautiful turquoise waters before we returned to Blacksod. Can’t recommend enough, it was an amazing experience for our kids!

Best activity of our holidays
After hearing recommendations from locals to choose Belmullet Boat Charters & also seeing the huge catamaran boat, Kea Josh we decided to choose this company for our trip to Inishkea Island last week. Sean Lavelle skipper onboard, made sure everyone enjoyed the journey to the island while also having a chat with all his passengers. ( A lovely touch). Kea, Sean's daughter & our tour guide, was very passionate, informative and engaging! We really learnt alot about Inishkea, and life in 1920s living here. Afterwards we had a peaceful lunch by the sea and went for a walk to see seals as recommended by Kea. We had a brillant day & looking forward to Inishkea North in August!

Trip back in time
We went to Iniskea Island last Saturday, it was a wonderful day, Kea was an excellent guide. My grandmother was born on the North Island, so it was great to hear all the stories and history. Would highly recommend Belmullet Boat Charters, they are very professional. I shall definitely be back next year with more of our family. Thank you Sean, Kea and Josh
