River creates the city

Perth's favourite playground, the Swan River is a stunning waterway which winds its way from the Darling Scarp to Fremantle. This natural attraction is popular location for Perth locals and visitors to enjoy a day out boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, swimming, picnicking or simply enjoying its vista.Rich in environmental and cultural values, the Swan River was named Derbal Yerrigan by the local Aboriginals who believe that the river was created by the rainbow serpent ‘Waugal’, a dreamtime spirit taking the form of a giant snake. It is believed that the Waugal created creeks, waterholes, lakes and valleys on its journey to the ocean.

    Relaxing Cruise to Fremantle
Caught a cruise which on the Tuesday we went was two for the price of one. So $46 2 hour cruise to and from Perth to Fremantle and back. The crew gave us a narrative of homes and historical sights along the river. The meal is about $80 and looked good from what I could see. (We didn’t partake) Very relaxing, clean and the crew all wore masks.

Swan River is the heart of the Pretty City
Perth people sometimes call their hometown "the Pretty City." If you look over the Swan River as the sun is setting, you can see why. Lots of things happen on the River -- the ferries to South Perth, the Rottnest Island ferries and on Saturdays you can see a host of white sails as the big yachts race on Melville Water. The Narrrows Bridge connects Perth City and South Perth; it's considered to be one of Australia's most picturesque bridges. The Swan River empties into the sea at Fremantle. It you have a chance, take a boatride downriver, it's an interesting trip. You will see the numerous mansions perched on the riverside , built with the proceeds of Western Australia's mineral wealth.
