Immerse Yourself in the Local Culture!
We spent the day in Saporken Village with our 3 young kids. We met the local kids while eating ice cream, and then they showed us the cementary and beach area. A local elder invited us into his home for a tour and then we drank fresh coconut water grown in his yard. We saw the local school and the church. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! This was an unforgettable experience for our family!

    Bird Paradise
Lovely little village, friendly people and smiles all around. There is good snorkelling off the jetty with huge table corals, and at low tide you pass through fresh water springs and small caves in the limestone rock at the edge of the bay. However, the undisputed highlight here has to be the birds! So many different spieces to observe in the area, huge hornbills, cockatoos, frigates, eagles and colourful parrots flying overhead. If you treck into the jungle behind you have a good chance to see the rare and stunningly beautiful Birds of Paradise. We managed to see both the Wilson's and Cendrawasih birds of paradise thanks to the help of our our fantastic guide who we met in the nearby Mandos homestay, also highly recommended. Ask around in the village to find knowledgeable and experienced local guides to help you. Fantastic experience for nature lovers.
