House-Museum of E.I. Pugacheva, West Kazakhstan Province, Kazakhstan

Trip back in time
I was staying in a hotel near this museum and decided to take a look. It is dedicated to E. Pugachev, the leader of the 18th century Pugachev rebellion of Volga Cossacks against Imperial Russian rule. The main building is quite small, only three rooms, one of which contains weaponry and artifacts from the rebellion, as well as a few informational displays. The other rooms show domestic articles and furniture from that time. There are additional displays outside showing what domestic life was like in the region at that time, including a summer kitchen and storage. A carriage used by Pushkin during his time in Uralsk is also on display. The labels on the displays are all in Kazakh and Russian, but a trilingual guidebook (Kazakh, Russian and English) is available at the entrance for a small fee. Worth a visit if you are in the area, especially if you are interested in domestic life in the region during the late 18th century.

Nice place to go
This is a part of the city history, and it's well known far away from Uralsk. It's not big, but it gives a good feeling of the specific historical period, and one can get a good historical overview with the museum employees. It's , according to them, only not the Pugachiov house, which was totally destroyed, but his wife. But he was there for sure. Nice place to go with good historical feeling
