The Good Samaritan Museum, West Bank, Palestinian Territories

4.5 (28 reviews) Saturday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #7 in Jericho Speciality Museums • Architectural Buildings • History Museums

Interesting site on the way to or from the Dead Sea

The museum offers archeological remains, including magnificent mosaics from the Byzantine period, an ancient building and church and a courtyard displaying a variety of archeological findings. One of the museum’s wings is dedicated to the story, history and customs of the Samaritan community. We recommend rounding up your visit at the Moshe Castel Museum of Art in Ma’ale Adummim. The entrance to the Martyrius and Euthymius sites is for groups only, by prior arrangement.

Terrific Audio Tour w Terrific Mosaics
Always wanted to go to see the mosaics- and so glad we did. We took a local bus and then walked for 15min (not advisable.... from safety and security perspective of walking along a highway). The museum is surrounded by glorious red dessert and the quality of mosaics are incredible. Museum is managed by the Israel Antiquities Dept and the staff is so caring and helpful.

A National Park on your way to the dead sea
This is the perfect place to stop for a break driving from the Center of Israel to the Dead Sea. You'll stop for about an hour to admire the well preserved mosaics and the interesting museum. The view on the surrounding is beautiful and is another reason to stop. As it is a National Park, you have all the usual and well kept amenities such as drinks and snacks (and not forgetting of course...toilets).
