Sunday: Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • History Museums
    Dar Zahran Heritage Building image
1- Dar Zahran Heritage Building: Attractive, historic building with a unique history. For 250 years, this building has been the property of the Ramallite Dar Zahran Jaghab family, serving as a family home, guest chamber, and the place of residence of Ramallah's" Mukhtar" (leader). It includes an art gallery, a photo gallery of Ramallah from 1850 to 1979, a souvenir shop and a Fair Trade corner selling authentic Palestinian food products, embroidery and jewelry. Visit Dar Zahran to experience a journey through centuries of Arab Christian life in Palestine. Location: Old City, opposite Arab Bank branch Al- Balad branch- Ramallah Al-Tahta. 2- Tarfidia is considered to be a historic area of great significance to Palestinian heritage in the city of Ramallah. The name Tarfidia originates from Latin, meaning faithful and sincere. This narrow valley is situated between two mountains, in which ancient Roman olive trees flourish, as well as pine, oak, eucalyptus, figs, peaches, almonds, apricots, grape vines and wild herbs such as thyme and sage. Ruins in Tarfidia indicate that it was once the site of a Roman village. In the valley there are rock carvings and wildlife, as well as "palaces" that serve agricultural purposes. Referred to as al-manatir, these are important historical monuments to the traditional lives of Palestinian society. There was also a spring of water that used to provide fresh, pure water to the area. The continued survival of Tarfidia as an authentic ecological microcosm is under threat from dwindling water supplies, urban development and competition for land. We invite you to visit Tarfidia, and to experience Palestinian cultural and historical heritage in this area. See more..

To every person visiting Ramallah, passing by or coming to stay for a longer period, I do recommend them the Amari Refugee Camp tour with Mohammed. It has been a very enriching visit from which I have learnt a lot. I am very thankful that we got to meet people that work at the Palestinian Society for Care and Development and that we got to discover the activites they implement in the camp, specially regarding the assistance of people with disabilities. They are doing a great job providing the camp with special education for people with special needs. Take the cable car next to Tel Jericho where this unique experience of the worlds longest cable car below sea level takes you over ancient Jericho to the Monastery of Temptation. When you disembark it is about a 5-10 minute walk uphill to the monastery where you can look around and look over the views of the Jordan Valley. 19. 4.5 The Church of St. Catherine (272 reviews)
    - Roman Catholic Church
Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Religious Sites
The Church of St. Catherine image
This Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Saint Catherine was built in 1882 on the ruins of a Crusader church and monastery (and those were built on previous ruins). Today’s church shares a wall with the Church of the Nativity. The interior is simple yet stunning, with marble columns, vaulted ceiling and beautiful chapels. Below St. Catherine’s are a complex of caves, accessible via a staircase in the nave. These include the cave of St. Jerome, St Joseph’s Chapel, and the Chapel of the Holy Innocents. St. Catherine’s is the parish church for Bethlehem’s Catholics, and Midnight Mass is televised around the world from here. Many groups of pilgrims routinely celebrate Mass at St. Catherine’s too, so it’s always a busy place. A pretty cloister with a statue of St. Jerome can be found outside one of the Church entrances. - Beautiful and poignant
    Sunday: 8:00 AM - 11:45 AM, 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Shepherd's Sanctuary image
It’s a pretty remote area but totally worth visiting for the history and story behind it, especially if you visit with a guide who can explain everything. The church isn’t the largest nor most elaborate but it’s the simplicity which is memorable. The number of people inside is limited giving the opportunity to take in all the paintings properly and the surrounding grounds are equally as impressive when you understand the background. Certainly worth a visit. See more..
  25. 4.5 Hisham's Palace (126 reviews)
    - Worth a visit
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Hisham's Palace image
I’ve been at Hisham’s Palace during my one day trip to Jericho. Unfortunately a big part of it is closed at the moment as they do some working on it. Therefore I was not able to see all the mosaic floors which I came for, just one little space with a beautiful mosaic floor was open. They have an extra room for small pieces and you can watch an interesting movie about the palace, too. It’s a great thing to do when being around Jericho and worth a visit. I just wondered why they do not protect the floors and special areas with ropes and something similar like barriers as everyone could easily step on this historic pieces of art. See more..

The tomb markers are off limits to non-Muslims but can be viewed via windows. Due to tensions only half of the site is open to Jews, while the other half is open to Muslims most of the year. The regular bus service from Jerusalem's Central Bus Station is the perfect way to travel there if you do not have a car. See more..
