A worthful collection to cherish traditions

I loved my visit to Beituna Al-Tahimi <3 The collection they store is amazing and tells so much about not only the traditional Palestinian embroidery but about how peopled lived, build their houses and cooked their meals as well! So much details, original items, pictures. It's impressive and educational. I really recommend a visit to this museum ánd to their shop: you won't believe your eyes when you see so much Palestinian embroidery (: And a special shout out to the older woman who gave me the tour. Every question I asked was answered with a smile, kindness and patience. She demonstraded some items, how things worked in these days. It was really a great visit!

    Delightful insight
We only decided to visit the museum because we had a little more time than expected after the Church if the Nativity. It was a lucky accident. I had been reading TE Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom for much of the time we travelled on buses around Israel and was delighted to find the scenes of local dignitaries and British administrators from the early 1920s included Colonel Storrs, one of Lawrence's colleagues and supporters, and to see the way in which he tried to incorporate all of the factions. It was fascinating to see the domestic progression from the late Ottoman period, which looked as though nothing had changed for centuries, through the early modern period of British administration, womens' clothes went from oppressive and huge to clothes that would not have been out of place in Bloomsbury at the same time. The reconstruction of the house and salvaging of everyday objects was delightful, and our guide - who had a most acute sense of history and change was excellent.
