Weeki Wachee Kayaking, Florida, United States

A must see and do

We made reservations online, super easy. I highly recommend weekdays because there is less kayakers on the river. You get the kayak for two hours but the 3.8 mile trip usually takes about 90 minutes. No single use containers are allowed so bring a reusable water bottle. I also recommend a dry bag and waterproof case for your phone. There is a shuttle that will bring you back to the launch point and your car. Because we went in late May, I wasn’t expecting to see manatees but we did see one along with three owls, ibises and tons of fish! Easy trip for beginners

    Fantastic Experience
This was my first time going to any of Florida’s fresh water springs, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Weeki Wachee was exactly what I wanted; crystal clear water, great sturdy kayaks, and beautiful scenery. The price is definitely worth it for the four hours they give you to kayak. Only issue I had was there seemed to have been another kayak rental place at the other side of the springs, so there were a lot of people kayaking and boating in the opposite direction of us. (Weeki Wachee was nice because they have us kayak downstream, making it easier). However, the other people coming the opposite direction made it difficult to get through some of the tight turns. It also became a bit crowded near the private houses along the stream with residents of the area. We were on a Wednesday from 12-4pm; I probably would never go on a weekend because I can see it becoming very congested. We saw one manatee and some wildlife. It took us right about three hours to kayak the entire 6 mile course. We maybe stopped off the side once for about 10 minutes to rest. Would definitely so It again!

My sister and I who are both in our late 50’s came for a lovely midweek trip. From arrival to departure we had to do absolutely nothing except steer the kayak. The service was amazing and the spring was stunning. They stagger the kayakers so there are no crowds Check the rules before to ensure a perfect trip. There is nothing I would change, and check out the mermaid show and river boat for more fun.
