Winthrop, WA
We took the Cascade Loop from Chelan to Winthrop, and planned on continuing on to Port Townsend, however, when we reached Winthrop, Hwy. 20 was closed due to 27 inches of snow and Avalanche warnings. Winthrop was worth the trip though. The town looks like a movie set or old western town. Interesting town to visit. We had to readjust our trip and cross the mountains at Stevens Pass which was a beautiful drive. If you take this trip in October, just be willing to adjust your route. All worked out fine. Recommend this scenic drive.

Winthrop town, like a western town
Winthrop is an interesting western cowboy style town. After visiting Leavenworth, we decided to go north and then west back to Vancouver BC. It was very nice to visit this little town. Depending where you live, this may be a bit of a drive. I recommend it to everyone.
