Silver Springs Campground, Washington, United States

4.0 (10 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #10 in Enumclaw Bodies of Water • National Parks

First visit was a success - can't wait to return!

Just spent our first weekend at this campground - we will definitely be back! It's a rather small campground (by number of sites), most sites are large and wooded, no showers but the restroom areas were clean. There is a little road noise, but the sound of the water in the background was a nice counter balance. Short drive into Rainier was very convenient. Our site was a double site - first I have seen where campers sit parallel, so our camper space was a little more limited that most double sites we have stayed. We will just keep that in mind when booking our return. Great campground and really nice area.

    Camping in the tall pines
This campground is beautiful. Located in the tall pines you really feel like you are camping in a forest. The sites are varied and if you have a trailer or larger RV you'll want to check to see if it will work with the sites. Seemed like tents would work well in all the sites we saw. We were along the road and it was noisy so try to avoid those sites if possible. Bathrooms were flush toilets and warm running water. The woman's room was clean and didn't hear any complaints about the men's. It got down in the 40s while we were there in late July so it was nice there was a little bit of heat in the bathrooms as well as the warm water. We did not have any problems with insects but not sure if that was because it was so cool while we were there. There was a fire pit with a very small unmovable grate cover on one side. I've not seen that before. Wood is sold on the site from the hosts. It was dry and cost $7. There is a lot of downed wood for kindling. This campground is well located for hikes and the Sunrise visitors center with a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier. There is the White River that runs along the campground. It is fast moving in most locations we saw. There were some nice camp sites along the river. We will go back here but only if we can get a site off the road.

    Traveling with a trailer/fifth wheel
Typical of these campgrounds around Mt. Rainier, they're really set up for tent camping, so if you are traveling with a trailer keep that in mind. My whole review will be around using this campsite with a trailer/fifth wheel. We have a 32'. The road getting to the campsites is narrow but passable. The sites are very wooded so even with all the shades pulled up in the trailer, it was still dark. Typical of state park campgrounds, this is dry camping. No electric, no water, no sewer, etc.. At every site you MUST park on the asphalt. *If your trailer/vehicle does not fit on the asphalt, you have to use one of the day site parking lots to leave your vehicle.* Had we known this, we would have backed the trailer up more. Each site does have a chock block, which could limit how far you can back up. The set-up of each campsite isn't trailer friendly, meaning the fire pit and picnic table were on the opposite side of the trailer door/awnings. The majority were like this. The bathrooms on site were clean (vault toilets and found one flushing). Garbage bins were located throughout the campsite. The camp hosts had firewood for sale. The majority of sites were level. If you are pulling a trailer over 28 feet, try for those sites listed as double (like 43/44). We had Verizon and service was limited (one to two bars by the weboost), without the boost, there was no service. The location of the campground in relation to either Crystal Mountain or the White River entrance (North entrance) of Mt. Rainier was good. Crystal Mountain (gondola) is much closer than the White River entrance. It took less than 15 minutes to get to the Crystal Mountain turn off and ~25 minutes to get to the White River Entrance. Overall, it's an ok option with a smaller trailer for being in the Mt. Rainier/Crystal Mountain area.
