Exceeded Expectations

I’ve passed this modest looking museum many times, but had never ventured in. From the outside, it’s small and nondescript. I imagined the inside was similar. I think I pictured card tables with some artifacts plus some old black and white pictures on the wall. My expectations were low. It is small, maybe 1/2 hour to go through, but it’s very well organized with bright displays and tells the story of early Renton really well. I walked away with a much better understanding of the region’s early history and certainly learned new things. If you wanted to partake, there was also an interactive play where they recreated a moment in Renton history. It’s also free admission the first Wednesday and third Saturday of every month, but it would also be worth $5 adult admission.

Awesome museum to learn about the history of Renton
This place is always really interesting and I always learn something new when I go. I just wish they could expand more.

    A Worthwhile Afternoon Trip
I've visited the museum several times, most recently in May. Their current feature exhibit is a total underuse of the potential of the museum (otherwise I'd be rating this at above average). If museums are your thing--and they absolutely are mine--I'd still recommend stopping in even despite the lackluster feature. The door fee is a pretty meager $5, and there's parking just across the street that isn't business-specific. The museum is well-maintained and clean, and the signage is professional and informative. Additionally, it's positioned within walking distance of a lot of Renton's great hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
