LOCAL HERITAGE AND HISTORY

The historical museum as recently relocated along Front street next to the Visitor Center/Museum and across from the Sons of Norway. This small museum was staffed by 3 people the day we visited. Located inside this house are numerous displays about the heritage and history of Poulsbo, including the history of the house in which it resides. The volunteers were very eager to share their knowledge of the history and heritage of their town.

    Such a Charming Museum
I am very easily swayed by small, passionate museums, and I couldn't have been more charmed with this one. We even got to touch a few of the items, which was extremely cool. A very nice exhibition of Poulsbo's history and culture.

Small museum hiding in City Hall
Finding this local history museum is a little tricky. Free parking is available under the modern City Hall building. Head upstairs to the second floor where you'll find a small maritime display in the lobby. Next, go past the permit counter and down an office hallway to this gem of a museum in a back room at City Hall. In the museum, you'll find friendly docents, cultural artifacts, and historic photographs. Our family enjoyed our visit to this small space. Our son was able to interact with several of the displays, including butter churns, wooden school desks, an antique scale, a telephone switchboard, and a pump organ. Scandinavian costumes are also on display (on full-size mannequins and small dolls). Admission is by donation. There are a few items for sale, such as postcards and local history books.
