Fun at the beach

Always a great place to be but keep an eye on the kids. You can build a small beach fire away from the grassy area with driftwood but take your own wood anyway and some fire starter. Carefully climb up on the riprap and watch big freighters going through the channel and (sometimes) huge waves breaking on the jetty rocks. Sometimes you'll see a seal also, and plenty of gulls - no bouys though. We were there on a winter day with a cold wind howling and a little drizzle so we didn't stay long - just picked up some small pieces of driftwood to take home. It's better in the summer, but anytime is worth the visit. Also great after a big storm as all sorts of stuff floats up on the beach.

The end or beginning of the America!
This place is on the ocean, lookout can see a great view. The beach is wonderful. Some surfers there added in sporty feeling. The parking lot is not huge, but if you can find a spot if it is not on the weekend. North Jetty is a true ocean shore!

    Rocks, sand, surf
We stopped to walk along the jetty and enjoy the beach. The massive rocks protect the entrance to the harbor, and we ended watching the waves crash against them. The broad sandy beach is popular and busy with picnics, kite fliers, and surfers.
