An interesting visit for the entire family
We stayed at Pearrygin Lake when we noticed, that in this area is a Smokejumper Base. So one day we stopped by and asked if it might or might not be too busy for getting a tour. We got invited and were shown around their facilities and explained to us daily business and their work during fires. It was sooooo intersting and one can learn a lot about Smokejumpers. We also were allowed to board their airplane. It was a very nice tour, everyone was inviting and friendly. We highly recommend this "attraction". Thanks a lot for your time!!! And stay safe!

Awesome and free
If you saw the movie Always, this reminded me of it. We were there when they weren't fighting fires, so we waited for our tour guide, got a whole tour of the facilities, equipment and got a feel for what these great people do for the community. You will have a new respect for what they do!

A "must see" when open!
Under the current restrictions, the Base is closed to visitors, However, we took a photo of the plane that is ready to go at a moment's notice! I have visited the base before and thoroughly enjoyed the tour we received, so I was hoping to show it to my husband since we were both there. No this visit is not risky, just exciting. I tried to add a photo, but it wouldn't let me.
