Excellent small museum, very well done
This is my second visit to the Harbor History Museum, as one in our party had never been to Gig Harbor before - and a visit to this museum is the absolute best way to kick off your visit to Gig Harbor. It gives you the perfect background, the perfect backdrop, to understand the nature of the town, it's vibe, it's beginnings. I love the handheld recorded tour guide, but now, you have to download it onto your smart phone. All of the exhibits are informative and readily accessible to all ages. Most of the interactive exhibits have sadly been shut down due to covid but it's still very interesting to most kids. The school house is always a great time for kids as they can go in and pretend to be the teacher, putting the adults into the small seats! And it's very interesting to watch the progress of the restoration of the fishing ship Shenandoah, launched in the early 1920s.

    Good Museum
Good, free museum to learn about the Gig Harbor area including the indigenous people, European settlers, and the Narrows Bridge. They even have a one room school house. We spent about 1.5 hours here and learned a lot about the area. There are a few interactive displays for the kids to explore and a small gift shop. The area was fun to walk around.
