ChCharming litlle steam train... must do for small and big kids up to 99 ;-)

For decennia this little summer train makes the joy of lots of people. It is a short and slow circuit, but the enthusiasm of the volonteers in their authentic costumes is absolutely adorable. This used to be a small track for the workers in the regional stone quarries, now some steam and some diesel engines are fun to spot. Old style café is open since some years during the trips, a journey back in time. Do watch the opening times, trains also available for private hire.

    A narrow gauge delight
For all rail/steam enthusiasts this little narrow gauge line is a unique one off in my experience, truly Belgian, and one of only 4 preserved rail facilities in Belgium I am told. Run by Volunteers it is a sheer delight to travel in the open windowed coaches from the old (now closed ) rail station in Rebecq (with car parking & availability for coaches to stay also) opposite the platform whence the little train departs. No shelter on the Platform for bad weather days and running only at 14.30:16.00:17.30 Dimanches it is an unusual experience as the lineside greenery enhances a rural tranquillity until the end of the line where the train reverses to the intermediate station where the locomotive runs around the train allowing time for passengers to get refreshments and souvenirs before continuing their journey. I note here that I have allowed time for people with Mobility problems, as I have myself so might be judged excessive by people without reduced Mobility. I note also that I found my fellow users most courteous and friendly even though not sharing a common language with them all, smiling faces and a helping hand where evrywhere to be found, not always so today
