simple and easy to use
We booked a 3 day pass via Get your Guide and this enabled us to use the trams and tubes free of charge during that period. Well worth the money and ease of access jumping on and off the trams and tube. We stayed on the outskirts of Vienna with a short tram ride into the centre but used the tube to visit attractions all over the city.

Brilliant system
The U-bahn, S-bahn, bus and tram system are all brilliantly integrated and cheap to use. As a tourist, the 72 hour ticket is a good bargain, just remember to stamp it upon boarding the tram or bus or at the U-bahn gates. Travel outside the city limits (for example to the airport) needs a supplementary ticket.

Good, cheap way to get around
We purchased a 24 hour ticket which entitled us to unlimited travel on trains, trams and buses for the day. These all operate frequently and efficiently across the entire city. Purchasing and activating our tickets from the self service machines was straight forward. There were boards clearly showing departure times, platforms and destinations, however, locating the actual platforms on the U-Bahn was sometimes confusing. Locals were helpful if they understood English! Public transport in Vienna is cheap and definitely a good way to get around especially to attractions outside the city centre.
