Favorite Destination on Recent Trip to Austria - Don't Miss It! A Great Museum.
During a recent trip to Austria, stopped by this museum in Vienna and it turned out to be favorite stop on the entire trip. A great museum with wall-to-wall memorabilia, props, bios, and collectibles from the movie. Could easily spend hours here looking at everything and reading everything on display. Includes some really fun exhibits for fans of the movie - including a couple of photo opps that put you in the movie. Along with this entire collection of movie memorabilia, you'll find a whole section of the museum on the real history of the time, which is reflected in throughout the movie. The historical aspect of this museum is fascinating and could be a complete museum on its own. If you are a fan of WWII history or a movie buff, this is an attraction in Vienna to not be missed.

Fascinating homage to a great film
An absolute must if you enjoyed the third man film. The very dedicated couple who set up this comprehensive collection of artefacts and information about all aspects of the film have done a superb job. All the staff were informative and friendly. The section which explored Vienna during and post war was especially interesting and the best historical record that we found in Vienna. There is also a good value book which can guide you to the various film locations in the city - well worth doing. Thanks for a great experience, we can’t wait to watch the film again.

A museum unlike any other!
Vienna offers some of the best museums in the world, but none of them are so utterly surprising, enjoyable, or memorable as this little gem in a lovely neighborhood just around the corner from the Naschmarket. I had seen The Third Man a couple of times over the years and thought it was a great film. But never in my wildest imagining would I have thought it would make for such an engaging museum experience. The collection of items and artifacts here is mind-blowing, and so thoughtfully presented that even the most casual visitor is going to be impressed! There is also a full section of the museum that’s completely devoted to documenting Vienna in the years leading up to - and following - World War 2, helping to shed light on the setting of the film. Beyond all of this, what makes The Third Man Museum so winning is that it’s truly a labor of love for Gerhard and Karin, the couple who created, own, and operate it, all with no governmental or institutional support. If you happen to find yourself in Vienna with a couple hours to spare, you have to check this place out. As for me, it will be among the nicest memories of my time visiting Vienna.
