Momentous circuit containing the essence of Vienna.
Coming in at justover three mils this unofficial ring road emcompasses some of the most iconic Viennese buildings and statues. Driven as slowly as possible or walked you need to do it in both directions to get the full benefit of the layout and the vistas opened up. A guide book is useful but look around you as well. Traffic is sometimes a distraction so early or late if you have the choice.

    Main Boulevard in Vienna
Ringstrasse is Vienna's main boulevard and one of the loveliest in the world. It is approximately 3+ miles long. The Ringstrasse forms a half-circle around the oldest parts of Vienna and the Danube River closing the half-circle on the other side. The architecture is very eclectic. The boulevard has magnificent palaces, vast parks and important monuments. You will see Vienna’s Hofburg Palace, the Palace of Justice, the Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History Museum, the Vienna Opera House and the Austrian Parliament plus so much more. ‘It is my will…’ – with these words, Emperor Franz Joseph ordered the construction of the Ring Road in 1857. The upper crust hustled to build their ostentatious palaces along the magnificent boulevard. You will be able to see some of these from the outside only.
