One of the most fun places in Vienna.
Vienna, with its imperial history, has the image of a very prim city. In theory, the Town Hall Square should be the personification of significance and seriousness. However, the opposite is true. The Town Hall Square is perhaps one of the most fun places in Vienna. There is a Christmas market here in winter. And in the summer we caught a rock concert with massive consumption of beer, sausages and other things. We regretted that we went to a restaurant for dinner. It was cheaper and more fun here.

Great place to be - day or night
The square in front of the City Hall. But for sure is much more to it than just the square in front of the City Hall. So here it is , across the square on the other side of the City Hall is the BurgTheater (city theater if you like - approximate translation). On the two sides of the square you will find a row of statues depicting the great personalities and statesman from the past centuries ... historical figures (Duke Rudolf, Karl Seitz, etc). During the winter time there is a huge ice skating rink setup here .. boths with food and drinks if you want to spend some time having fun.( for a price of course, but it's a decent price for the ticket ). The Rathaus park - a small patch of green offering some shade in the summer months. And not to forget ... on side of the square is the Cafe Ladtmann, why is it so interesting? well just to mention - Sigmund Freud and Gustav Mahler spent time and drank (not only) coffee in this cafe. So here it is ... architecture, culture/arts , history, walking and sports in the same place. Check out the Rathaus Platz when in Vienna.

A great and unforgettable ikce skating experience
To find such a huge open air ice skating rink in the heart of Vienna is simply AWESOME!!! It was quite full but still had a lot of space. Entry as well as renting prices are very reasonable. Facilities such as toilets, food and drink are top. A great atmosphere which brought back beautiful memories. Will deffinitely go back again when visiting Vienna in winter.
