    Dream come true
Visiting this museum is a dream come true for me. Since young I was exposed to the Holy Roman Empire history from encyclopaedia and illustrated history books. So I have been familiar with the regalia but always longed to see the real items. The opportunity only arose now, many decades later. Adult ticket costs EUR12 but I also paid an extra EUR4 for the guide. It was EUR4 well spent. The young guide, Benjamin was a font of knowledge who not only explained the background history of the items on display but he also brought with him a tablet that has pictures of things that are not visible to naked eyes and definitely can't be obtained purely from the placards beneath the items. For example letters that read as X RIST on the agate plate, purportedly appear magically on certain Sundays and holy pictures made from hummingbird feathers with technology learned from Mexico but now lost. There was also an early evidence of cultural appropriation in the form of a mantle worn by the HRE Emperors during coronation which was weaved by Arab weavers in Palermo for the Norman kings of Sicily but was later acquired by Hohenstaufen emperors who added it to the HRE regalia. The mantle has still visible Arabic words which was an irony considering the HRE was the bulwark of Christendom against marauding Arabs and later Turks. Also on display were items related to Jesus's cruxificion including the Holy Lance and a piece of Holy Nail as well as a part of the Holy Cross. They were previously stored in a jewel-encrusted golden cross which was also on display. All in all I was satisfied with the exhibited items. The museum size itself is not big but the items on display are unique and priceless.

    In search of Charlemagne
Bucket list item to see The Spear of Destiny which is part of the Crown Jewels. We finally reached Vienna as part of a APT ( Travel Marvel) Rhine Cruise. Our first day in Vienna was a Tuesday and I had not read the web site info fully and seen that they are closed on a Tuesday. Fortunately there was second day in Vienna so after another trip in the morning we floated through the rain back to the Palace. As most of the Palace is still in Government usage it is not most the inactively exhibition to find but wit minimal queuing we were in. Much to my amusement both of us as seniors. The reasonable price has option of audio devices but by that time we were audited out so had more of a voyage of discovery.
