    The beautiful city center
The Hofburg and the Church of St. Michael, which is across the street from the palace, are beautiful places. The Hofburg has great statues outside and a very interesting green dome. St. Augustine's Church is not too far from the Hofburg. Although most people go to St. Stephen's, which indeed should be visited, St. Augustine's and St. Michael's should be visited. They're free and, if you like the Baroque, you will enjoy these two churches. St. Peter's was exceptional. Out of all the churches in Vienna, it was our favorite. St. Charles' costs 10 euros and it doesn't compare to St. Peter's, which is free. The museums are world class, especially the art museum (Kunst). Most attractions in Vienna are quite close. We took our time to visit them, but you will probably need about 3 to 4 days to take most of the city's attractions.

    Expectations exceeded!
This was our first time in Vienna and we were very impressed. We have been lucky enough to travel extensively but seldom have we been to a place that has so much history and grandeur. A tip would be to buy one of the 24 or 48 hour travel cards. These are relatively inexpensive and I like you to just hop on and off the excellent tram, Metro and bus services. It really does make a great way to explore this city which was much bigger than we expected. Normally we walk everywhere but that would be a mistake here as you would miss so much. Everywhere you turn that off the most stunning buildings, many of which are absolutely huge and are spread over an extremely wide area. In truth, we didn’t find it the warmest city in terms of atmosphere as it is full of government, administrative and Royal buildings. It is absolutely beautiful, we are glad we have seen it but it may be a while before we return as there are other places to see and to return to.
