A short weekend getaway!

Although I live in Varna and visited the Stone Forest (Pobiti Kamani) in Bulgarian many times. I can say this is definitely a place you can visit throughout any time of the year including winter. If you go during the day and it's on a weekend you can even buy a guided tour. Still there is a big board next to the entrance where you can read a lot. It is a nice spot also if you like taking photos - imagine a sunrise or sunset there and the wonderful colors you can get!

    An amazing and underrated place
    Take a taxi or rent a car and drive 20 mins from Varna, you won’t regret it. Various and versatile rock formations dating back thousands of years, when the area was covered by water. Don’t miss the tranquility of the neighboring forest. Priceless.

    Interesting alien landscape
    Stone forest deserves it's name - it really seems like an ancient forest. Large enough area so it's not very crowded even if many cars parked along the roadside or parking lot. Would recommend to visit, when in the area. Don't trust your GPS (Google) when trying to find it. If you are on the main highway, look for the huge signs with tiny name "kameni" on it (written at the lower edge of road signs). Beware of crazy potholes after turning off the main highway. Staff is very friendly, he will give you a brief history, of how the forest was probably formed and will most likely name the type of stone in your national language. Water and othe beverages are availiable.
