Nice way to get out and about for a morning.
Early morning 5am departure from our hotel as we were told that you needed to do the hike in the morning before cloud set in and disrupted the amazing view. In saying this by the time we got to the plains, our driver got tickets we probably hit the entrance at around 7.30am. The day we went the drive up to the plains was very misty, cloudy and rained, which shed some doubt on whether or not the weather would clear and we would benefit from what we were told were amazing views. Our driver who takes tourists to this park daily assured us that the weather would clear, the sun come out and by the time we reached World’s End we would have an amazing view. Well he wasn’t wrong! After we hiked, I say hike but it is a relatively easy walk, even on the ‘difficult’ route we took. Everything is signposted so basically follow the signs and you can’t go wrong. The walk to World’s End was about an hour and a half, we were lucky as it wasn’t that busy so we managed to get some great pics. You follow the signposted paths and do a loop right around the plains. Please note that this is a no plastic nature reserve so make sure all of the food you take is not in plastic, and that the plastic water bottles you take has the plastic ring seal removed from the top. At the entrance park rangers will give you paper bags to transfer food in to if required, bag checks are done and anything plastic is removed. On the day we went to be honest I’m not sure if we had arrived later that it would have impacted the view by that much, unless you want to make it for sunrise which we missed. We enjoyed getting out and about as most of our days were spent being transported from one city to another stuck in the car. So if you have time a great way to spend the morning. Most hotels which ours did will pack you a breakfast to take with you, which we ate on completion of the hike. Toilets are located right at the entrance where you buy your ticket, again at the actual entrance to the hike and a few dotted around on the hike, they are not clean by any means but if you are desperate you can make do. Try to avoid the ones on the actual hike if possible, and as always carry tissues and sanitiser.

    Great walk
We got there for 6am and did the hike to worlds end, we were first there so got to experience it to ourselves which was pretty cool but within 30 minutes the place was full and by this time it's nowhere near as cool. The views are great but to be honest we have seen better views in Sri Lanka by speaking to locals and doing free hikes. The hike is an easy one and has some nice scenary which is quite different to the rest of Sri Lanka. The price is a bit high but you are contributing to the protection of the area which can only be a good thing. Overall worth a visit if you make the effort to get there for when it opens.
