    Beautiful view!
This place is definitely worth seeing, as it lets you explore the nature in Porvoo and gives you the chance to watch the sunset from an observation tower.

Military history, beautiful views and short hiking routes
The lookout cliff Telegrafberget is situated only 500 meters from the parking place of Hotel Haikko Manor & Spa in Haikkoo. Follow the sign "Näköalakallio" and you find the cliff easily. However, be careful if it is dark or if rocks are icy. There are some cracks in the rock. There is a small wooden observation tower on the cliff. It is always open and you may freely climb there. The view is very beautiful. There are old pines on the rock. The famous Finnish painter named Albert Edelfelt painted one of his popular paintings here. Telegrafberget is situated on a small nature conservation area (27 hectares). There are nice paths there and it is a good idea to walk there. This is a very interesting place if you are interested in war history. There has been a telegraph tower on the rock. The telegraph line was built between Hanko and Kronstadt (Saint Petersburg) during the Crimean War in 1854. There was a semaphore tower in every 10 kilometers and messages were read with binoculars. No less than 500 Russian solders were needed to work at this telegraph line. However, this telegraph line was used only for two summers and after that they used an electric telegraph.
