    A memory of summer
City of Porvoo runs public swimming hall / spa near the city center. The place was renovated few years ago and old place transformed from schools and active swimmers swimming pool to a whole family's spa. Nowadays there can be found a wave machine, a hot tub and a water slide. Also new saunas including steam saunas were added accompanied with new facilities like showers and locker cabinets. Parking places for cars are few and free parking is limited to 2 hours just outside the door. More parking can be found nearby. The old locker room facilities remind me 80s': Already dirty looking patterns in floor tiles and dull colors on the walls. If you fancy a brighter experience the new wing gives at least a try. There are separate facilities for men and women. This means also that in saunas people are totally naked. No swimming suites are allowed in saunas. Long sleeve shorts are also forbidden in pool area because of hygienically reasons. If you desire to swim long distances you get a lot of practice on turnings as the longest pools are 25 meters. Water running is quite popular and few lines are reserved for runners. Few running belts can also be borrowed for first timers. It is possible to rent facilities for your private parties as well. In payback you get a sauna of your own with few rooms. You are also allowed to use other swim hall's facilities as well. A small cafeteria can be found upstairs and they provide some beverages and snack after refreshing moments at pool. In summer time the place is closed for maintenance and Finns swim outdoors in lakes. Near Porvoo Tervajärvi and Veckjärvi are the most popular places.
