Beautiful Old Church in Porvoo

Our guide took us for a ride to Porvoo, which is a charming village of wooden houses about an hour outside of Helsinki. We visited this church, built in 1450, and containing some symbols of ancient Christianity. We walked the cobblestone streets of town, and shopped in the small boutiques. It was a worthwhile visit.

    Porvoo Cathedral
    The central point of Porvoo with medieval, stone and brick - the Porvoo Cathedral. It's one of main attraction for this old medieval town.

    A typical orthodox church. Very small
    We visit the churhc many times a year for weddings and baptisms. The church is only open on pre-announced schedule so if you want to visit, make sure it's open for the public. The church is very small and there are some icons, candles and other small orthodox props for sale. Magasins and leaflets to read. Stroll through the lutheran cemetary if you are in the hoods. It's beutiful and well kept.
