Beerhunters alert!
This brewery was opened in 1989, the name is derived from one of the breweries in the 17th century. In those days Amersfoort featured many breweries due to the good quality of the water. Nowadays the experienced Gert Van Reenen and his wife Ria are running Stadsbrouwerij De Drie Ringen, situated close to the mighty city gate De Koppelpoort. They have turned the brewery cafe into a cosy and wonderfully designed location where you can enjoy an interesting range of house beers (from wheat and dark to triple and one beer been named Vuurvogel that is brewed in the 17th century tradition). The very welcoming couple also serves good wines from Argentina and California. And during our visit we were treated on a plate with a mouthwatering selection of cheese and sausage. If the weather is good, take a seat outside with a good look on De Koppelpoort, the most beautiful gate in the city. Then your beer will even taste better in such a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended, especially to all beerhunters!

The Three Rings
Ace brew pub. Great beers, great ambience and friendly staff. Situated in a historic part of Amersfoort, this great little brewpub produces a selection of traditional Dutch beers of good quality at reasonable prices. When asked which should I try, the landlord offered me a sample of each; all of which were impressive. Well worth the visit.
