    Say cheese
We live in Woerden but hadn't visited yet. So glad we finally went earlier this week with visitors. What a lovely addition to Woerden - very informative and good value. We had no idea there was so much cheese being made and stored in Woerden. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was no problem to have the tour in English - thanks so much to the lovely girl who showed us around.

    Meet de nestor of cheese
Woerden, located in the green heart of Holland, is also known for its cheese. Come on a Saturday and see the real-life trading at the market, see the cheese bell where current prices are written on the side..and a few steps away, the cheese warehouse (Kaaspakhuis). On 'Open Monument Day' (every 2nd weekend in Sep), I was greeted by the Nestor of Cheese, 'Jos van Riet', who told me everything about cheese making and who, earlier that morning, picked up 250 litres of milk from a local farmer to make it. Let him talk and you will learn all the secrets.. except for a few. Afterwards, walk into town or visit the local windmill and enjoy the hospitality of Woerden. NB: forgot to tell you, parking is very reasonable and houses Roman artefacts you never find anywhere else. More than enough reasons to visit Woerden!
