A must see.
Hof is the heart of old Amersfoort and on a Friday evening it is buzzing! It was warm enough to sit outside on our first evening but had to sit inside on the second. What a lovely place, full of eateries and wine bars. Wonderful.

Historic landmark
The Hof (= Court) is the largest square in the historic inner city of Amersfoort. It is part of the protected cityscape of the city. There is a market here every Friday and Saturday. The name stems from the Middle Ages, when the bishopric court was situated around the St. Joriskerk. The whole area around the Hof is very interesting from historic and cultural point of view. The square itself is like a breath of fresh air in the middle of all this. Sit on a terrace and enjoy the hustle and bustle around you.

The place to be and be seen in the old city
This square is packed with restaurants, tables and chairs. It is the busiest part of the old city but it really only starts up around lunch and gets busier as the day progresses.
