important cultural place for Slovenian history and cultural
On 03-12-1800 France Prešeren was born in Vrba in Gorenjska, into a quite well-off peasant family. This was his birthhouse where he lived with his family. France Preseren, actively participated in the cultural struggles and he was a representative of the neglected peasant classes. He felt that his whole life was accompanied by the numerous traumas he had been through in his youth. He went through a series of romantic disappointments,Julia Primic and strongly affected by the deaths of loyal friends. The house-museum you can enter for 2,50 Euro and visit the living room -annex sleeping room, and dark black kitchen. There are no pictures of France, but portraits-drawings as there was no camera. Inside you can buy some books in German-English or Slovenian. In the vicinity is a small church St. Marco. Go and stroll around, it is a very nice walking area, nice quite . The trail behind the church and museum, is the way, they were walking or riding with horses in the Habsburg time

Don't expect much
Building is attractive for Kranj and interesting when you need to know something about poet Prešeren. On the other side it is always the same, some furniture and boring descriptions and no innovative new exhibition, at least a part of it. One visit in your life is enough. Place has free entrance each first Sunday of the month.
